Range: Various subspecies inhabit most of the western United States from central Alaska south in to Arizona and New Mexico as well as the northern United States and southern Canada from coast to coast. In Nebraska it has been found in the western third of the state.
Larval Hostplant(s): Various native prairie grasses.
Broods/Flight Times: One late summer flight, mid-August into early September.
Overwintering: As eggs
Habitat: Mixed and short grass prairies.
Avg. Wingspan: 7/8 – 1 3/8 Inches
Found at: Ash hollow SHP, Sidney Rest Area, Wildcat Hills SRA, Niobrara Valley Preserve, Mile Marker 1, Crescent Lake NWR. Gilbert-Baker SWMA
