Status: Occasional local resident

NENHP Ranking: S3, Tier 2

Range: Found in the eastern United States and parts of the southern Rocky Mountains. In Nebraska it is widely distributed (with large gaps in its range), with no records from the sandhills, southwest, and southern panhandle.

Larval Hostplant(s): Oaks (Quercus sp.).

Broods/Flight Times: Two, possibly three flights. Nebraska records range from late April into early September.

Overwintering: As full grown larvae.

Habitat: Is commonly found in oak woodland openings and margins.

Avg. Wingspan: 1 7/16 – 1 15/16 inches

Found at: Indian Cave State Park, Table Rock SWMA, Fontenelle Forest, Niobrara Valley Preserve, Red Cedar Lake (Saunders County), Gavin’s Point Dam (Cedar County)

Similar Species: Horace’s Duskywing lacks the spots found on the ventral hindwing of Juvenal’s Duskywing.
