Status: Rare, possibly extirpated resident.
NENHP Ranking: S2 Tier 2
Range: The Pine White inhabits southern British Columbia and Alberta southeast through Wyoming and south into New Mexico and northern California. In Nebraska it has been found in the Pine Ridge areas of the northwestern most counties.
Larval Hostplant(s): Ponderosa (Pinus ponderosa) and other pines.
Broods/Flight Times: There is one mid-late summer flight from around mid-July to mid-August.
Overwintering: As an egg.
Habitat: Pine forests.
Avg. Wingspan: 1 3/4 – 2 1/4 inches.
Found at: Gilbert-Baker SWMA, Sowbelly Canyon
Similar Species: None
Notes: Literature suggests this species was common in the early half of the 1900s. More recently it has been seldom encountered, being last reported in late July of 1998 by Jim Reiser and Steve Spomer.
