Range: Florida to Texas north to Iowa, Michigan and New York. Several Nebraska records from Fontenelle Forest.

Larval Hostplant(s): Oaks

Broods/Flight Times: April through September in Missouri (Heitzman & Heitzman 1987). Nebraska records are from June and August indicating two flights if it does indeed breed here.

Overwintering: Not known.

Habitat: Oak woodland margins.

Avg. Wingspan:  1 1/4 – 1 5/8 inches.

Found at: Fontenelle Forest

Similar Species: Gray Hairstreak

Notes: This butterfly has been found twice at the same location (Fontenelle Forest) begging the question – is there a population there?
