Status: Uncommon breeding stray

Range: The Funereal Duskywing is found in southwestern United States east to Louisiana and north to Kansas and northern California. It has been recorded from eastern and southern Nebraska.

Larval Hostplant(s): Various legumes including Black Medic and Alfalfa (Medicago lupulina and M. sativa),Lotus and Vicia species.

Broods/Flight Times: Nebraska records are from the July to September timeframe.

Overwintering: Not in our area.

Habitat: As a stray it can occur anywhere.

Avg. Wingspan: 1 5/16 – 1 3/4 inches

Similar Species: This is the only Duskywing in our area with a white fringe on the hindwing.
