Range: – Eurasia, northern Africa and most of North America south of arctic areas. Reported from all parts of Nebraska.
Larval Hostplant(s): Stinging and wood nettles (Urtica dioica and Laportea canadensis), Pennsylvania pellitory (Parietaria pennsylvanica) and bog hemp (Boehmeria cylindrica) are recorded hostplants found in Nebraska.
Broods/Flight Times: Multiple broods after arrival. There are records from early April to early November.
Overwintering: Overwinter as adults as winters permit.
Habitat: Equally at home in a wide variety of habitats.
Avg. Wingspan: 1 3/4 – 3 inches
