Range: At one time four disjointed populations could be found in the eastern United States. Two remain, one in the southern Appalachians and one in the Ozarks of Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma.
Larval Hostplant(s): Violets (Viola sp.)
Broods/Flight Times: One mid-summer flight.
Overwintering: As newly hatched larvae.
Habitat: Forested mountainous valleys and streamsides.
Avg. Wingspan: 3.25 – 4.25 inches
