Range: Almost the entire United States (with the exception of some of the inter-mountain west and southern Florida) south into central Mexico. It is found statewide in Nebraska.
Larval Hostplant(s): Pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus) and lamb’s quarters (Chenopodium album).
Broods/Flight Times: Two broods. It has been found in Nebraska from May 3 – September 7, but most common in late spring into early summer.
Overwintering: As a full-grown caterpillar.
Habitat: Prefers open areas like road or path edges where it flies low to the ground.
Avg. Wingspan: 1 – 1 5/16 inches
