Status: Occasional to common local resident.

Range: This species is found from southern Alberta and Saskatchewan south to central Mexico. In Nebraska it has been found in the panhandle.
Larval Hostplant(s): Legumes including Astragalus and Lupinus species.
Broods/Flight Times: Multiple broods with records from late May to early August. Most common in in May and June.
Overwintering: As fully grown larvae.
Habitat: The Afranius Duskywing is found on open hillsides and valleys in pine forest environments and rocky prairie slopes and streamsides.

Similar Species: Other Erynnis lack the light colored, but not white, hindwing fringe.
